The first apples stayed out

Early apples, a little honey, and a cutting board that held the beginning of the season.

Quartered September apples on a maple cutting board with honey and cinnamon.

The first apples did not need a formal plan. Quartered on the maple board with cinnamon nearby, they made the kitchen smell like the season had turned while the windows were still open.

We left the honey spoon where it landed and kept the cutting board on the counter. A few ordinary pieces can make a morning feel prepared without turning it into an occasion.

The recipe collection is where we keep the next step when a simple board of fruit becomes something warm from the oven.
